Lubin. Perfume maker since 1798

07.10.2014 / PERFUME

Just after the French Revolution, Pierre Francois Lubin founded his Perfume House, at rue Sainte Anne in Paris. He provided perfumed ribbons, ball masks and ride powders to the ‘Incroyables” and “Merveilleuses”. His most famous creation however was the “Eau Vivifiante” later called “Eau de Lubin”.
The fragrance soon won him the favour of the Imperial court.

Today some special attention to these 3 Lubin fragrances.
Figaro; “An aromatic, green, woody chypre”
L’eau neuve; “Cool breeze and simply keynote”
Inédite; “A fresh but sweet, spicy “floriental” fragrance”

Lubin’s Korrigan, Galaad and Akkad

21.12.2012 / PERFUME

French niche line Lubin has launched three new fragrances: Korrigan, Galaad and Akkad. They are now available at YOUR fragrance department!

Korrigan ~

“Perfumer Thomas Fontaine imagined a tree for Lubin, to be called “Caramel Wood”. Its sap would be sweet like English toffee, but with tangy accents of wild apple, juniper and saffron, to answer for some of its mystery. He wanted a note of leather yet appetising, smooth like a whisky cream liqueur, yet smoky, fragrant and slightly bitter like superb pure malt. The story of Korrigan: A Korrigan is a small mythical creature that haunts the moors of Brittany, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, whisking us away to the folklore and legends of Celtic civilisation…” Additional notes include cognac, lavender, ambrette, cedar, oud, vetiver and musk.

Galaad ~

“Delphine Thierry, who created Galaad, invites us to a tranquil morning ride in the mountains of the Middle East, when the scents of myrrh bushes blend with cypress resins and the woody fragrance of cedars. The leather of saddle and gloves gently warm up in the first rays of sun, while the little Arab horse snorts amidst the morning dew that has settled on Judean balsam trees and on the vines climbing along the mountain slopes of Galaad.” Additional notes include cardamom, rosemary, honey, copahu balm, oud, cypriol and blond tobacco.

Akkad ~

“Akkad is a luminous amber perfume, mystical but also sensual. [Perfumer] Delphine Thierry, who composed this creation, imagined an amber note that is both spicy and luminous. The opposite therefore of the dark, mystical ambers that bring to mind the smoke of frankincense in ancient temples. Akkad amber opens with an aromatic citrus head note of mandarin and bergamot, enhanced by Clary sage. Clary sage, also known as “the sacred herb”, is renowned for its euphoric, harmonising properties.” Additional notes include cardamom, elemi, frankincense, styrax, amber, vanilla and patchouli.

Will this be THE fragrance of the summer again?

13.06.2012 / PERFUME

Last year, Idole Eau de Toilette had a killer-season during summer. Will it set sail to the same level this summer?  If you use it, you will set the jungle on fire with a woody liqueur rich in scorching spices, as sweet as sugar cane, and as warm as leather.

The islanders drink rum and are massaged with balmy oils. I invite you, from the deck of a ship charged with precious woods, to contemplate the stars in the sky, resting your head on a soft leather bag that will be your only possession. A captivating feline creature with obsidian eyes revealed it to me just when I thought it was forgotten, or lost, or simply a dream… Only she could give fragrance to this new world called Lubin.

“From the shores of East Africa to the Sunda islands, from Zanzibar to Macassar, on the maritime spice routes, for centuries, nomadic people have set out, all sails to the wind, to face the storms… This bottle is the sail of a felucca, full with the swift sea breeze, taking away a wooden idol by night, the symbol of a nomadic people”.

L stands for…

31.01.2012 / PERFUME

L de Lubin, the heady scent from the seventies, was favored by the pop idols on the disco dance floors. The Indian wood notes and spices from Siam are overlaid with a refreshing blend of Tuscan flowers and Sicilian lemons. The iris of Florence gently washes over the top notes, which are smoothly fruity and floral.

This fragrance was created in 1974 by Lucien Ferrero. It was inspired by the London nightlife of the 1970’s and those splendid creatures haunting it.

Top notes of bergamot, cinnamon, lime and nutmeg.
Heart notes of iris, clary sage, cola nut and nectarine.
